On the International Day for Human Rights, in light with the anniversary of the issuance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in accordance with the United Nations Resolution on December 10, 1948, which came to affirm the right of everyone to life, the right to personal security, and the right to justice, education, and all rights.
The International Alliance for Peace and Development (IAPD) asserts on the importance of the role of youth in promoting human rights, youth have an important role around the world in supporting rights, anti-racism, hate speech, bullying, discrimination, and climate change.
Human rights are at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as in the absence of human dignity we cannot drive sustainable development. Human Rights are driven by progress on all SDGs, and the SDGs are driven by advancements in human rights. Youth participation is essential to achieve sustainable development for all specially with the participation in the political and public life which is a fundamental principle of human rights. Young people are seeking to participate in all decisions that have a direct and indirect impact upon their wellbeing. They need to be heard to inform more effective decision-making processes and achieve sustainable development for all.
The International Alliance believes in the idea of empowering young people to promote human rights, and has carried out many activities aimed at enhancing the ability of youth to protect human rights issues. The IAPD held training sessions on the United Nation human rights mechanisms that it combined the theoretical aspect to the practical participation in the sessions of the Human Rights Council at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, together with the involvement of a distinguished group of experts.
The IAPD also implemented a number of seminars targeting youth in different countries around the world on the United Nations Global counter-terrorism strategy, under the global belief that the spread of terrorism and extremism around the world is considered a flagrant violation of enjoyment of human rights.
We call on all governments and individuals to comply to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, respect all human rights conventions and stop violations of human rights.
