The United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy

International Alliance for peace and development did a workshop on 30 March 2019 in Poland entitled” The United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy “, In the context of International Alliance for peace and development concern renounce violence, extremism and terrorism and emphasizing on promotion of the values of peace and tolerance. This workshop involved 22 young men and women from Arab and European countries, during the “Erasmus +” program to promote culture diversity between youth.

Our workshop began with present of  UN global counter-terrorism strategy, UN mechanisms in facing violence, terrorism. In addition, Counter-terrorism in goals of sustainable development strategy. Then participants divided into three groups, with three situations about violence, extremism and terrorism. In addition, we began to discuss how deal each situation according to UN mechanisms within UN mandate for facing violence, extremism and terrorism.

Our workshop got lots of outcomes by participants, the recommendations included promoting the role of civil society in combating terrorism and promoting peace building,there must be a mandatory Agreement or mechanism to join the strategy, the strategy must give recommendation for states to adopt educational system included anti-hate speech and counter violence in schools, adopting international program for youth to raise awareness important of fighting violence and hate speech and UN should impose sanctions on groups or states which using the violence  or support terrorism .
